Everything To Know About HVACs

What Does HVAC Stand For?

HVAC stands for heating, ventilation, and air condition. This system includes both the outside air condition as well as the furnace or heater inside the building. Not only is the system responsible for keeping the temperature in your building at a comfortable level, but it also filters the air and removes humidity to keep your building from becoming humid and dirty.

How Does it work?

As you can see, the HVAC is responsible for a lot in your building. So, we’re breaking it all down for you, piece by piece.

  • Air Conditioner: In the summer, the comfort of your building relies on the air conditioner to cool and dehumidify the air. It does this by compressing freon gas through copper pipes, then blowing the air through the coil and into the building. As the freon gas is cooled, the moisture from the air is drained outside the building using a condensation line.
  • Furnace/Heater: In the cold months, your furnace or heater takes over and basically does the reverse of your air conditioner. When freon gas expands, it heats, is blown through the hot copper coils, and warms your building.
  • Filtration: The final piece of the puzzle is air filtration. When air is pushed through the air handler in your system, it passes through a filter to remove debris and clean the air. This filter should be replaced regularly in order to achieve clean air.
